Collage of fabrics and illustration of person playing the flute

I started this piece during the workshop. “Anything — within reason,” drawn from a page of a thrift store novel (with fabric and tissue paper scraps, and a copy of a nineteenth-century drawing of a flute player), reflects the multiple arts-based ways that I am engaging with my current research and writing process. This process has stretched me in many ways. Not only have I reached into my background as a professional flutist, but I have also explored new territory with blind contour drawing, painting, and stitchery. It’s been a blast, so far, and I’ve learned a heap along the way.
